The application process will start for Fall 2020 scholarships on August 17,2020 and be awarded in November 2020. Contact Tori at if you need more details. Below is the criteria for applying. The final date for submissions is September 18th at 11:59pm.

Fall 2020 narrative and criteria is below.

The Nevada Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) is pleased to announce that we are awarding four $1,500 scholarships to Nevada college students.

Scholarships shall be merit and career-focus based, and strive to identify individuals that are interested in, or are very likely to pursue a career in engineering and technical fields including environmental science, computer science, architecture or a related field.  


Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Nevada higher education institution as a full time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours
  • Nevada Resident
  • Pursuing an Associates, Bachelors or Masters Degree in an energy-related field. 
  • Maintains a High School GPA no lower than a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 grade scale.
  • Have a minimum College GPA of 2.7 (if applicable).
  • Have declared their major as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, Environmental Science, Architecture, or other energy-related/technical programs.

Applicants shall:

  • Complete the AEE Scholarship Application in its entirety, and submit it by the deadline indicated.
  • As part of the application, students shall provide a 500 word essay explaining what career path they hope to take after graduating and a 200 word essay explaining ideas on energy sources.
  • Applicants must attest that the information provided is true and accurate to the best of their knowledge.  Submitting false information on the Application constitutes grounds for immediate disqualification from receiving a scholarship.
  • The AEE Nevada Chapter Board of Directors reserves the right to request that the applicant provide a sealed copy of their transcripts, at the applicant’s cost. AEE scholarship recipients must agree to attend the AEE Scholarship Presentation Meeting, and give a short prepared statement to the attendees.

In November 2020 scholarship checks were given to four students from the AEE Nevada Chapter. Since we were not able to meet in person, they have provided short videos about with a little bit about themselves to thank our members.

AEE Nevada Fall '19 Scholarships Awarded 

On January 23, 2020 scholarship checks were presented to four students (one missing in the photos) at our lunch meeting in Reno, NV for the AEE Nevada Chapter.

AEE Nevada 2017 Scholarships Awarded 

On November 16 and 17, 2017, scholarship checks were presented to four students (two from UNLV and two from UNR) at the bi-monthly lunch meetings for the Nevada  Chapter of the AEE.  Each student is pursuing an energy related discipline and we welcome them not only as successful recipients of this award, but as new members to the professional chapter.

These students are from Reno and Las Vegas where hospitality, entertainment and tourism are the number one attraction.  Although they didn’t gamble to get these awards, they are all lucky winners by pursuing a field where their future is secure.
