The Nevada Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Scholarship award eligibility:

Scholarships shall be merit and career-focus based, and strive to identify individuals that are interested in, or are very likely to pursue a career in engineering and technical fields including environmental science, computer science, architecture or a related field.  

Criteria:

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Nevada higher education institution as a full time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours
  • Nevada Resident
  • Pursuing an Associates, Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral Degree in an energy-related field. 
  • Have a minimum College GPA of 2.7 or a high school GPA of 3.0 if the applicant is a first year college student.
  • Have declared their major as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, Environmental Science, Architecture, or other energy-related/technical programs.

Applicants shall:

  • Complete the appropriate, graduate or undergraduate, AEE scholarship application in its entirety, and submit it by the deadline indicated.
  • As part of the application, students shall provide essay answers to the prompted questions on the application
  • Applicants must attest that the information provided is true and accurate to the best of their knowledge.  Submitting false information on the Application constitutes grounds for immediate disqualification from receiving a scholarship.
  • The AEE Nevada Chapter Board of Directors reserves the right to request that the applicant provide a sealed copy of their transcripts, at the applicant’s cost. AEE scholarship recipients must agree to attend the AEE Scholarship Presentation Meeting, and give a short prepared statement to the attendees.

AEE Nevada 2017 Scholarships Awarded 

On November 16 and 17, 2017, scholarship checks were presented to four students (two from UNLV and two from UNR) at the bi-monthly lunch meetings for the Nevada  Chapter of the AEE.  Each student is pursuing an energy related discipline and we welcome them not only as successful recipients of this award, but as new members to the professional chapter.

These students are from Reno and Las Vegas where hospitality, entertainment and tourism are the number one attraction.  Although they didn’t gamble to get these awards, they are all lucky winners by pursuing a field where their future is secure.
