Students: Join us for a behind-the-scenes field trip of the local Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF). More than 75 million gallons of water per day have been recycled at Las Vegas’s wastewater treatment plants. A 3-megawatt solar plant provides power for wastewater treatment. Pictured below is an aerial shot of the facility.
The Public Works Environmental Division is responsible for managing all facets of wastewater treatment for the safe return of water to the Las Vegas Wash and Lake Mead. It’s a 24/7 facility with many moving parts. This 3 minute video – https://youtu.be/8cM9Uxyb9fE – covers the dynamic, sustainable, and managing process of the plant. More of their sustainability efforts are found here on their website linked here.
Join us on March 22, 2018 for this free, private, and student-driven field trip.
