Description

As energy supplies diversify and energy demands change, the need for buildings to become more responsive to and interactive with the electric grid is not only becoming increasingly relevant, but essential in how we regard our evolving infrastructure. HDR Consulting, LLC will present drivers of GEBs, current challenges, and the demand management technologies that are enabling a smarter, more flexible energy system.

      Presenters

      Javid Butler

      Javid is a lighting and energy consultant based in Las Vegas, NV. He holds LC, CEM, and CMVP credentials, and is the Education Chair for the Las Vegas section of the Illuminating Engineering Society, and Nevada chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers. He also writes science fiction under the pen name David Pax.



      Steve Hofer

      Steve has over twenty years of diverse management experience including the management of new home builder warranties, large housing projects, and utility DSM programs. Those projects include demand response programs, new homes, pool pumps, HVAC, commercial lighting, efficiency and renewables projects. He has been with HDR Consulting for 7 years working on demand side management projects for NV Energy.

      Justin Williams, CEM, CMVP

      Justin graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He began working as an intern with Perini Building Company on the MGM City Center project, then transitioned to engineering consulting with HDR Consulting for the last nine years. As an engineering consultant, Justin has been involved with numerous energy efficiency and demand response projects through NV Energy, including smart thermostats, HVAC systems, and agricultural irrigation. More recently, he has been working on field demonstrations of optimizing communications between renewable distributed energy resources including battery energy storage and solar systems for grid services.
